1- What do I need to connect to the internet?
Wirelessly At Home
A- Internet Connection Service, such as cable, DSL or other high
speed services
B- Wireless Modem or Wireless Router Connected to Modem
Wired Connection
A- Internet Connection Service, such as cable, DSL or other high
speed services
B- Modem with Ethernet Cable connection
2- How do I connect to my wireless internet at home?
A- Double Left Click on " WiFi Power " icon located on your
computer's screen
B- A window will pop up on your screen that reads "Wireless Network"
and "Power On"- Click on the "Power On" button.
C- Once you have done that, a small icon depicting a computer screen
with waves coming out of it will appear in your system tray located
on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
D- Double Left Click on that icon.
E- A Window entitled "RT28701" will appear on your screen depicting 3
tabs.
F- Click on the tab marked " Wireless Information".
G- A window with your available wireless networks will come up. Click
on the network that you know is yours. A window named "Wireless
Network Properties" will pop up.
H- If your router requires a password or key, please type it into the
"Network Key Field"
I- After you have done that (or if you don't have a password), click
on OK.
J- You should now be able to use the internet wirelessly- ENJOY!
3- How do I connect to my modem without using WiFi?
A- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to your modem and then
connect the other end into the Ethernet port located on the back of
your netbook.
B- If you are in a place of business and step A is not working,
please give your netbook to your IT personelle. They may have to
change some settings in order for it to work.
4- Will this netbook work in my car, on the beach or in the
park?
A- Unless you are in a wireless hotspot, you will not be able to
access the internet.
*Definition of HotSpot- A hotspot is a site that offers
Internet access over a wireless local area network through the use of
a router connected to a link to an Internet service provider.
Hotspots typically use Wi-Fi technology for the wireless network.
Hotspots may be found in coffee shops and various other public
establishments throughout much of North America and Europe.
